3-In-1 Icon Development

Vertical Calendar

Like it says, this calendar was created for 2012 but was never produced. Instead of a standard reading calendar, I wanted to create one that would be read differently, graph-like. All holidays are circled in blue and called out on the lower right. Emigre's typeface Oblong fits the experimental idea behind the calendar and provides a technical feel as well. This calendar kind of fits with the below images of the tic-tac-toe video games in that it is sic-fi-esque. Looking at this now, I should have maybe added some perspective elements to the bottoms of each column. 

Qubic

Qubic is the name of a 3D tic-tac-toe game. This pack design is intense. Huge type with a giant technical tower above and a long description of the game below. Sounds... Fun?

QUBIC will crush you under it's transparent grids.

After doing a little research on this game, I came across video game versions for Atari and the art on on those games is super old-school comic like that I thought they should be showcased as well. Here they are!

There are a lot of awesomely silly things happening in this graphic, I dig it. 

An oasis? A triangular black hole? Perspective study?

This is badass because you're going to fly into space and play a robot in TTT. 

I can't tell exactly but your dog may come with you?

Vintage Mtn Dew

While walking about, an old Mountain Dew bottle caught my eye at the Antique Mall. The fact that there was a guy pointing a gun at what seemed to be a robber (or neighbor?) and that there was a "hillbilly style" mentioned, it begged to be photographed.

I've never looked into the history of Mountain Dew because I never drink it, but the drink has some fun historical facts about its naming and packaging.

Yahtzee Poster!

Below is a poster I created for no other reason than my girlfriend and I had been playing a lot of Yahtzee and this design popped in my head. The inspiration came out of a minimal movie poster trend and the fact that really all you need to play Yahtzee are dice, a cup, pen[cil] and score sheet; pretty minimal. Enjoy!

Old drugstore chain logo. Could be a play on all prescriptions, Rxall?

Not sure but the lettering is great; very nice thick and thin script with the R giving everything a resting place. Is that a pill holding shape I see? 

The Devils Tricycle

This is a poster I made in the vintage horror style for a fake movie called The Devil's Tricycle; the nickname given by my old gym-mates and I to the Schwinn AirDyne exercise bike. AirDynes will ruin your day.

Vigilant[e] Posters

A poster series I made... because I watched Vigilante. For a better understanding of the visuals and because the definitions aren't visible, vigilant means "keeping careful watch for possible danger or difficulties" and vigilante means "any person who takes the law into his or her own hands, as by avenging a crime."

This will be an on-going project in this blog; going to antique malls or stores, finding old design, taking pictures and posting them.
